Veerash Srikison leads the mediation team at Fair Practice.
Along with her many tertiary credentials, she has gained experience as an Advocate since being admitted in 2003.
Veerash has learned that small businesses, corporates and the public could also do with more affordable hands-on services of a legal professional and chose to include mediation as part of her practice. She has been called in by organisations to restructure and evaluate employee interactions and the organisation itself as a productive entity.
From her experiences in Family Law litigation she realised that the people who need to be protected the most in a divorce or “custody” battle are the children, no matter the age. She then went on to evolve her mediation practice to that of family mediation. She has advocated in the media of the benefits of mediation on children and the family as a whole. She has been called by her own clients as ” the divorce lawyer for children”. Her method of allowing divorcing couples or unwed co-parents to reality test their settlement agreements before making it an order of court has proved to be an eye opener to many people who engage in her mediation services.
She works with a team of legal, financial and psychological service providers who, where necessary, assist the clients with their specific issues in absolute detail towards a complete resolution of their dispute.
Veerash has been awarded a cum laude merit in her Divorce Mediation and Labour Arbitration skills by the Arbitration Foundation of South Africa endorsed by the University of Pretoria.
She has further received accreditation as a mediator from the Conflict Dynamics organisation, endorsed by the University of Stellenbosch – Business School.
Veerash has also been awarded international accreditation as a mediator by the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR UK) – a London-based mediation and alternative dispute resolution body. She has further been accredited with an Advanced Certificate of Negotiation from CEDR-UK.
Veerash is a member of the South African Association of Mediators (SAAM) and a volunteer panelist mediator for ProBono.org – Johannesburg.
She has further trained over 100 legal professionals in the art of mediation and negotiation. Her wealth of knowledge on these subjects and her implementation skills have always been appreciated by both her clients and peers.
